Another composition I wrote in Sec 4'06
***********************************************

The weather looked promising as a group of friends excitedly headed to a field of lush green grass. The place was near deserted as only a few families stayed in the region. It was very far from the city, thus the peaceful serenity that relaxes one's mind. Mountains and forests surrounded the area which gave a greated sense of security that there would be little disturbance during their flight and promising scenery to view.

As the group of friends prepared to enter the hot-air balloon, the villager who was supposed to control the hot-air balloon rushed forth to warn them about the impending downpour reported on the news. As this was the only opportunity to ride in a hot-air balloon and yet able to view such beautiful scenery, the group of friends decided to take the risk and go ahead with the flight. Despite great reluctance, the villager gave in and helped to prepare the ride.

In the midst of the the flight, while her friends were enjoying the ride and the view, Faeya realised that the azure sky was slowly being enveloped by darkness caused by the grey clouds. She had a bad premonition of the impending danger they were soon to face. Before she could react, an ominous roar of thunder alerted her friends thus causing everyone to snap out of their elation and began to panic.

As the storm poured dangerously upon the hot-air balloon, the villager tried to stablise the hot-air balloon. However, a lightning struck upon the hot-air balloon, causing the villager to lose complete control of the balloon. Everyone was hysterical as they knew that there was no way they could survive the dangers of the weather.

Everyone cuddled together, praying for help as the hot-air balloon swayed dangerously in the mercy of the weather. Just then, a ear-piercing shriek rang in their ears as Faeya realised that they were heading straight into a mountain. Breaking down into heaps of tears, the friends blamed themselves for agreeing to take the risk despite knowing the great danger of flying in a bad weather.

Just as they were about to collide into a mountain, a sudden strong gust of wind blew the hot-air ballon away. The strong wind blew the hot-air balloon towards land very quickly. As no one expected to survive, they shut their eyes tightly and softly mumbled their prayers as tears rolled down their eyes uncontrollably.

Swaying dangerously, the hot-air balloon overturned like a capsized ship as it landed on a muddy field. Slowly peeping out of the hot-air balloon, Faeya realised that they had landed on the field and was saved! As she turned around to share the good news, she realised that her friends were all bleeding and all were knocked unconscious. With much difficulty, Faeya struggled out the hot-air balloon and gingerly pulled her friends out. Blood trickled down her face as she had cut her forehead in the rough landing. Exhausted by the whole situation, Faeya slowly sank into the abyss of darkness as she laid unconcious on the floor.

Faeya awoke to the sound of her friends' voices and was surprised to know that everyone had survived the danger with minor injuries. They had all expected to die in the dangerous ride, yet unexpectedly, all managed to survive the ordeal. From then on, the group of friends swore never to take such risks again as such unexpected miracles may never happen again.

My teacher then only commented "good vocab" and nothing else. I could still remember that he said that he briefly went through my composition due to a lack of time. I was furious! The "good vocab" was because I used words from my "vocab book".
