A composition I once wrote when I was in Sec 4'06
***********************************************

His hands moved vigorously as he explained a simple entreprenial plan. His eyes shimmered with determination and confidence as his face glowed with pride and dignity. He was very confident that he would be a successful businessman. Vahn was his name and he was in a state of euphoria as he imagined himself to be filthy rich. Faeya sat there listening attentively, feeling he excitement and confidence. She was a gullible young adult and trusted others easily, especially if that person was a suave guy.

"But my only problem now is that I do not have sufficient capital..." Vahn ended his long explanation with a grim face.

Faeya stared at him blankly, although she knew what he was driving at. She was relatively rich and had a stable income every month. However, she was very keen to start a business with a suave guy and in the event learn some new entrepreneurship skills. Despite this, Faeya waited for Vahn to request, knowing he would somehow. It was as though Vahn read her mind as he suddenly said, "well, people say kindness begets kindness. I wonder if there would be any pretty lady who would like to assist me. I would love to teach her some marketing skills and I'll definitely repay her kindness one day."

Upon hearing this and seeing his determination and great confidence in his entreprenial plan, Faeya agreed immediately to help him on a condition to teach her entrepreneurship skills. The agreemeent was settled and they soon got their business going smoothly. Faeya thought that she could trust Vahn with the accounts as she concentrated only on learning marketing skills. However, she did not know that Vahn was scheming to make use of her.

At the break of dawn, Faeya hurried to her office as usual to begin her day at work. As she reached the office, she smelled a stench of oil and realised that there was oil spilled on the door and paint was sprayed all over the wall. Loansharks were demanding for debts to be repaid or else they would burn down the office.

Terrified and appalled, Faeya immediately called Vahn for help but he could not be reached. She started pacing back and forth, anxiously waiting for Vahn to arrive.

After a couple of hours, Vahn was still nowhere to be seen. Tears flowed like a broken tap as Faeya realised what a fool she had been. She was in deep trouble then as she had to repay the debts and handle the company on her own. Rushing into the office to check the accounts, she realised that the office was in a mess as papers were strewn all over the floow and computers were smashed. She found the accounts book after searching frantically through a sea of papers. However, to her dismay, the accounts book showed that the company was left with no funds.

Faeya sat stunned on the floor as she realised that she was being used as a scapegoat. Vahn had took off with all her money and left her with debts to settle. As her employees came to work, she stared at them blankly, unsure of how to break the news to them.

She knew that her savings alone could not repay the debts and to pay the workers retrenchment fees. Furthermore, she was jobless herself aqt that point of time as her kindness was taken for granted and she was left with nothing but rubbish to clear.

Faeya did not know what to do as her mind was confused with too much thoughts. She said to herself, "so much for kindness begets kindness" and then she laughed hysterically to herself.

I got a good and 21/30 for this composition. I felt that I could have done better though.
